We can get our hands dirty planting, pruning, digging or shopping for plants. We can discuss irrigation, plant layouts, spacing, deterring pests, mixing soil, setting up compost… everything you need to become self sufficient and confident in your own garden.
3 Seasonal Lessons: $500
Three TWO Hour lessons once per month for a total of 6 hours together.

I am certified in Fine Pruning by Seattle’s Plant Amnesty, a wonderful organization committed to ending horribly ugly pruning. Fruit trees, Japanese Maples, Rhododendrons, Lilacs, hydrangeas - these plants can usually use a refresher prune. If you would like to know how and why and when to prune, we can do that as part of Consulting or Coaching. If you would like me to prune for you, I can quote your project depending on its extent. My max tree height is 15 feet. Renovation pruning of a overgrown hot mess of a tree is a process that usually takes up to three years but is worth the wait. Good renovation pruning happens in July and August too. That’s the time we stop growth. We can talk all about this more - this subject is dear to my heart.

We’ll go through the design process in small stages that feel comfortable and empowering. We look at two rough concepts and fine tune your favorite one. Water features, paths, terracing, pergolas, firepits and outdoor rooms are some of my favorites to desing. You can also rely on me to consult on irrigation concepts and erosion control, infrastructure, and hardscape that I’ve learned from hands on garden building for decades. I also design kitchen gardens and decks.

After we finalize your design, I can consult on the installation and purchase all the plants. As a licensed, insured and bonded Specialty Contractor I can advise on bed and plant layout, irrigation needs, hardscape materials and advise options for future maintenance. I can refer you to several great landscape/construction companies who I have worked with before. By consulting on their work, you can be sure all the decisions that arise are well thought out and your final garden looks just how you anticipated.
