As a certified Permaculture Designer, sustainability and resilience are at the heart of my ethics.
Garden Philosophy
You’re going to see that there are many little decisions, the nuances, that make your garden come together. That’s where I want to have a good understanding of you.
Regardless of the size of your outdoor space, we can make it as inviting as your inside living space. It’s common that a seemingly big problem in a landscape turns into the coolest aspect of my designs. I welcome limitations; they make us focus on what is really important to you. Design for all four seasons. Mimic nature. Slow water down. Inspire kids to go outside again. Compost intentionally, and create enduring, living landscapes that get better with age.

Grow enough for you, and share with others. Create backups for systems. Start with live soil.
Plant for a changing climate. Test your soil. Be realistic about your desired input.
Organic. Low maintenance. Climate change conscientious. Maximum harvest. Efficient flow. Pollinators. Habitat. Live soil. Compost. These are a few of my favorite things.
Meet Dee
Dare we say that Dee was gardening before gardening was cool? We’re talking 90’s gardening. But really, who cares about longevity without growth, adaptation and innovation?
So much has changed as we have all learned how our natural world effects us and those we love. It’s all connected. What we eat, where it comes from, what nourished it…
From being a plant buyer at a nationally recognized retail store in the early 2000’s to studying Permaculture under the renowned Bullock Brothers on Orcas Island and achieving certification as a Permaculture Designer from Compass Rose Farm in Port Townsend, WA Dee has continually questioned why we do what we do and if it’s still relevant.
Having gardened in Florida, Georgia and Washington, she is familiar with clay, sand and rocky conditions. This diversity has proven beneficial in determining how to start a new garden in a changing environment. She specializes in outdoor rooms and foodscapes.
A few aspects which drive her work are
fun, comfort, preparedness and joy.
Dee has built brick patios, retaining walls, decks, pergolas, french drains, fences, cabinets and tables. While she won’t directly build your outdoor living space anymore, she can design, manage and consult with trusted contractors to ensure your space is efficient, resilient and fun.
We can grow food in our front yards.
Meet Leigh
Some may say Mad Scientist, others say Green Witch. Either way, point to a plant and get ready to learn how the leaves cure this and the root heals that and the flowers make a dye that colors a silken shawl worn by the Egyptian queen of something something something. We don’t need to know how she catalogues all this information, but we can benefit from it. From a nationally recognized apothecary potion mixing position to joining Fire Blossom Garden Design as a Consultant, Leigh brings a wealth of knowledge about the plant world with a focus on pollinator gardens, seed starting, succession planting, mixing edible plants with ornamentals, low maintenance gardening and medicinal plants. She will steer you away from mistakes that you are about to make before you even knew you wanted to do that. Plus she keeps it real with expectations that will match your desired energy input. But in a really nice way. Leigh is the kind of person who always leaves some mushrooms for others to pick after discovering a huge patch.
A few aspects which drive her work are
nourishment, peace and easy beauty.
And seriously, who here does NOT want some easy beauty? Time is limited and Leigh will help you reduce boring garden chores and enhance the joy points of gardening. If you find yourself telling her your life story, you are not the first. She is a safe place, probably because she really knows a LOT of stuff and is so kind
